The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has published a proposed decision on chlorpyrifos (Lorsban) insecticide, recommending cancellation of all food crop uses. Corteva Agriscience intends to defend the current registered uses.

According to the Corteva Agriscience website, Lorsban uses innovative technology to produce a low-odour, water-based formulation that offers superb versatility in controlling a variety of pests across numerous crops. The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association has been collecting additional information in support of chlorpyrifos.

PMRA also proposed the phase-out of some uses of thiophanate-methyl (Senator) and OFVGA will be following up with affected users to determine action.

Finally, fosetyl-aluminum (Aliette) passed re-evaluation with no major usage changes required.
