Faster development and commercialization of new labour-saving technologies are the aim of the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre. The organization has applied for funding from the federal government’s Strategic Innovation Fund.

What’s new about Vineland’s proposal?  It calls for a collaborative network of Canadian companies, academic expertise, technology developers and equipment manufacturers from along the value chain.  Vineland terms it the ‘Canadian Network for Advancing Agricultural Automation Technologies’ or ‘A3T’.

With capacity in artificial intelligence and big data analytics, Vineland’s researchers say that technologies could be developed that make more informed economical production decisions. Technologies could include vision systems, end effectors, autonomous platforms and robotic systems, making Canada a global leader in agricultural automation.
